Five levels
- 1. First steps — 4 sums · up to 10 · adding and taking away
- 2. Gentle — 4 sums · up to 20
- 3. Easy — 5 sums · up to 40
- 4. Normal — 5 sums · up to 60
- 5. Hard — 6 sums · up to 99
Scoring
| How to play | Fill in the blanks so that every sum works both across and down. A corner square belongs to two sums, so filling one square helps solve the other sum as well |

| What goes in a blank | Always a number from 1 to 9, so one tap on the keypad is all it takes |
| How many blanks | One per sum. Two sums means two blanks, four sums means four |
| Shapes | A fresh shape is worked out every time, so the same one never comes round twice — corners, crosses, square frames, ladders and more |
| Level | Only adding and taking away. Each level adds another sum and bigger numbers — Level 1 four sums up to 10 · Level 2 four sums up to 20 · Level 3 five sums up to 40 · Level 4 five sums up to 60 · Level 5 six sums up to 99 |
| Filling in | Up to 600 points · in proportion to the squares filled in correctly |
| Time bonus | Up to 300 points · only if you fill them all in, in proportion to the time left |
| Accuracy bonus | Up to 100 points · 10 points less each time you put in a wrong number |
| Hint penalty | 50 points off per hint (it fills in one square for you) |
| If you put the wrong number | It stays there in red. Erase it and put in another number |
| Level bonus | Normal +100, Hard +250 (when you fill them all in) |

I went looking online for puzzles for my mother, who lives with dementia, and found it far too hard to find good ones — so I made these for her. I am putting them here in the hope that they help someone else too.
